Bakersfield, CA – Five Hurt in Head-On Crash Near Interstate 5

Bakersfield, CA (April 18, 2024) – The California Highway Patrol responded to a head-on crash in Bakersfield on Wednesday, April 17th. The accident was reported around 5:25 a.m. near Interstate 5.

According to a CHP report, a 52-year-old woman from Bakersfield was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when she tried to pass another car traveling in the same direction. The Silverado collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Camry at approximately 80 miles per hour. Paramedics responded to the scene and provided treatment to injured victims. A total of five people sustained injuries in the crash and were transported to Kern Medical Center for treatment. There is no word on the conditions of the victims or the nature of their injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in the crash. Police have not identified anyone involved. An investigation is underway at this time. No further details are available.
