Los Angeles, CA (May 31, 2025) – Two people were killed Thursday night, May 29, after an SUV crashed into a semi-truck on Interstate 5.

The deadly accident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on the northbound side of the interstate near Sylmar. According to authorities, an SUV rear-ended a big rig under unclear circumstances.

The SUV caught fire after the impact. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but both occupants inside the SUV died at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.

It is not yet known what caused the SUV to crash into the semi-truck. Officials have not said whether speed, distraction, or impairment were factors.
