Los Angeles, CA (November 5, 2024) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Venice Blvd & S Sepulveda Blvd in Los Angeles, involving a bicyclist and a pedestrian. The incident, which the Los Angeles Police Department reported, took place on November 3 at approximately 3:30 p.m. and resulted in a large emergency response. 

According to authorities, the tragic collision occurred when a bicyclist hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street at the busy intersection. The pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, was knocked to the ground upon impact, suffering critical injuries. Paramedics arrived quickly at the scene and immediately began performing life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the pedestrian was later pronounced dead at the hospital from the severity of his injuries.

The bicyclist, identified as a 23-year-old woman, was also injured in the crash, sustaining moderate trauma. She was treated by emergency personnel at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for further care. Authorities have not confirmed whether the crash was intentional, but reports are suggesting the bicyclist may have fled the scene following the collision, prompting an ongoing investigation into the possibility of a hit-and-run incident.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews were on hand to assist and the cleanup of the scene. Meanwhile, officers from the LAPD worked to manage traffic flow in the area, which had become heavily congested as a result of the collision. Several lanes of Venice Blvd and S Sepulveda Blvd were temporarily closed to allow first responders to work efficiently.

The LAPD is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including reviewing available surveillance footage from nearby businesses and cameras in the area. Witnesses have been urged to come forward to assist in the investigation, as detectives work to piece together the details of the incident.
