Los Angeles, CA (January 1, 2025) – A fatal pedestrian crash occurred early Wednesday morning in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, as a suspect car fatally hit an individual. The incident was reported at approximately 5:28 a.m. near the intersection of Harbor Fwy S and W 8th St. Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, rushed to the scene shortly after a 911 call was made.

According to information from the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) computer-aided dispatch system, the pedestrian was hit by a silver sedan, possibly an older-model Chevrolet Impala. The car, which sustained front-end damage, was last seen traveling northbound on the CA-110 freeway. At 5:34 a.m., the coroner was requested to the scene, and by 6:18 a.m., the search for the suspect vehicle was underway.

Authorities have confirmed that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Los Angeles Fire Department assisted in the extraction of the vehicle involved. The accident led to significant traffic disruptions, and CHP officers worked to control the flow of traffic in the area.

The driver of the silver sedan, who fled the scene following the collision, is still at large. The CHP is urging anyone with information to come forward, as the investigation continues.
