Pedestrian Accidents in San Diego
Pedestrian accidents are a growing concern in San Diego. With busy intersections and a dense population, the risk of these incidents remains high. In areas like Teralta West, where foot traffic and vehicle traffic often mix, crosswalk collisions are not uncommon.
Drivers must stay alert, especially near intersections and crosswalks. Turning vehicles often pose the biggest threat to pedestrians, particularly when drivers fail to yield or rush through turns. Even with marked crosswalks, distracted or hurried drivers can easily miss someone crossing the street.
Pedestrians also need to remain cautious. Making eye contact with drivers, waiting for cars to stop fully, and crossing only when it’s safe can reduce risk. Still, when drivers are negligent, injuries can be severe.
In pedestrian crashes, victims can suffer from broken bones, head trauma, or spinal injuries. Medical bills pile up quickly, and recovery can take months or years. When someone is injured due to a driver’s mistake, they have a right to pursue compensation.
